Grant Access Using Resource Groups
- Admin account with access rights management permissions
- User added to the system and visible in the Users list
- Resource group(s) created in the platform — if no resource groups exist yet, create them first in Resources → Resource Groups (see Resource Groups reference)
Overview
Use this method to assign a pre-defined group of doors or resources to a user in one action. Instead of selecting individual doors one by one, you select a resource group that already contains the relevant resources. This is best when multiple people need access to the same set of doors.
A resource group is a logical collection of doors or resources grouped together for easier management. The resources in a group do not need to be in the same physical location — for example, a resource group called "Helsinki Office Common Areas" could include the main entrance on the ground floor, a meeting room on the 2nd floor, and the break room on the 3rd floor.
Steps
Step 1: Navigate to the User's Access Rights
- Go to Users in the left sidebar menu
- Find and select the user from the list
- Click the Access rights tab
User profile page — click the Access rights tab to manage permissions
Step 2: Start Adding New Access Rights
Click the Give new rights button in the Personal Access Rights section.

Step 3: Select Resource Groups
In the "Give New Access Rights" dialog:
- Select the Resource groups option (not Individual resources)
- Check the boxes next to the resource group(s) you want to assign
- Review the selection panel — it shows the count and names of selected groups (e.g., "1 Resource groups selected")
- Click Confirm to proceed
Resource group selection — choose one or more resource groups and review your selection in the confirmation panel
If you need to assign specific doors that are not part of any resource group, select Individual resources instead. See Grant Access to One Person for details.
Step 4: Configure Validity Period
Set when the access should be active:
"Set the same validity for all" toggle:
- ON (default) — Apply the same start and end dates to all selected resource groups
- OFF — Configure each resource group with different validity periods
Validity options:
- Valid from — Set the start date and time
- Valid to — Set a specific end date and time, or leave as "Valid for now" for indefinite access
Validity configuration with "Valid for now" option — access continues until manually changed
Validity configuration with a specific end date and time
When using "Valid for now," the access right has no automatic expiration. An administrator must manually update or remove it when access is no longer needed.
Step 5: Save
Review the summary table showing your configuration (group name, valid from, valid to), then click Save to apply the access rights.
The user will immediately receive access to all resources within the selected resource group(s).
