Exception Days

Prerequisites
  • Account Administrator, Regional Admin, or Multi-Account Administrator role
  • A Weekly Schedule to link exceptions to — exception days and periods are used as part of weekly schedules to modify their access rules

Overview

Exception Days let you define specific dates or periods when normal weekly schedule rules should not apply. Use them to handle holidays, maintenance windows, or any other circumstances where standard access patterns need to be overridden.

The page is organized into three sections, each managed independently:

  1. Exception Groups — organized collections of exception days for streamlined management
  2. Exception Periods — extended timeframes spanning multiple days with defined start and end dates
  3. Exception Days — individual date-specific exceptions with customizable access settings

Key Capabilities:

  • Block access completely on specific dates or define custom time windows
  • Create multi-day exception periods for maintenance or extended closures
  • Group related exception days together for consistent management
  • Exceptions automatically override weekly schedule permissions when they occur
Exception Days Can Grant or Restrict Access

Exception days are not limited to blocking access. You can also use them to grant modified access — for example, providing extended hours during a special event. Choose "No access" for complete restriction, or set a "Specific access time" window.

  1. Click "Additional features" in the left sidebar
  2. Select "Exception days"

Exception Days Overview Exception Days page — three sections: Exception Groups, Exception Periods, and Exception Days

Features

Exception Groups

Exception Groups let you organize related exception days into collections — for example, grouping all public holidays for a year or all maintenance-related exceptions.

Exception Groups Section Exception Groups table — group name (sortable) and Add group button

Click "Add group" to create a new group. Click any group row to manage its contents.

  • Group name — user-defined name (sortable)
How Exception Groups Work

Exception groups are always part of a weekly schedule. To use exception days, you attach an exception group (containing exception days and/or periods) to a weekly schedule. The exceptions in the group then override the schedule's normal access rules on the relevant dates.

Exception Periods

Exception Periods handle multi-day timeframes — such as a summer closure or a maintenance week — with precise start and end dates and times.

Exception Periods Section Exception Periods table — period name, from/to dates, and Add exception period button

Click "Add exception period" to create a new period. Columns:

  • Period name — user-defined name (sortable)
  • From — start date and time (sortable)
  • To — end date and time
Exception Periods Block Access Only

Exception periods can only block access — they cannot grant additional access rights. They are also not used for resource opening schedules.

Exception Days

Individual exception days let you set access rules for specific dates, such as public holidays or special event days.

Exception Days Section Exception Days table — exception name, date, access settings, and Add new exception day button

Click "Add new exception day" to create a new exception. Columns:

  • Exception name — user-defined name (sortable)
  • Exception date — the specific date (sortable)
  • Access between — access control setting: "No access" or a specific time window

Sorting and Pagination

Each of the three sections has independent sorting and pagination controls. Use the column headers to sort, and adjust rows per page (10, 20, or 50) at the bottom of each section.

Exception Days Pagination Pagination controls — independent for each section

  • Weekly Schedules — time-based access control that exception days override when conflicts occur
  • Resources — individual resources affected by exception-based access restrictions
  • Resource Groups — resource collections that can be linked to schedule-based access management
  • Set Time Restrictions — step-by-step guide for applying weekly schedules (with exceptions) to access rights
